One firm for every stage of a company’s capital.
Founded in New York in 2009. Now 72 people, four strategies and $8.4B under management.

Our story
CapWise began with two investors and one frustration.
Eleanor Whitcombe and Marcus Adeyemi had watched good companies lose momentum between funding stages: the venture firm could not lead the growth round, the growth fund would not lend, and every new investor meant months of starting over.
They raised a $120M venture fund in 2011 and added each new strategy only when portfolio companies needed it. Private credit followed in 2015, growth equity in 2018 and real assets in 2019. Each strategy has its own team and its own funds. All four share one investment committee, one research team and one set of values.
Seventeen years later, the idea has not changed. We want to be the last investor a company needs to meet.
What we hold ourselves to
Patience is a strategy
Our median venture hold is 7.4 years. We do not sell good companies early to make a fund look better.
Say what went wrong
Our letters report losses with the same detail as gains. Trust is built in the bad quarters.
Fewer, deeper relationships
We make around 20 new investments a year across all strategies, so every partner has time for every company.
Alignment before terms
Partners commit a minimum of 2% of every fund. We invest our own money first.
